Alright so I do "professional" animation and digital painting for a living. Anyone who uses a computer to do creative work knows how F-ing annoying it is to use hotkeys on basically any program under the sun. What makes this product exceptional isn't just the customization but also the software you need to download to use it which I will talk about.I know, I KNOW some of you are goblin-clawing your keyboard to work; even as we speak. That's where you have your tablet in front of you to draw but then have your keyboard hanging to your side like a stage-4 tumor you can't get rid of because you need to use it to hit certain keys to work faster/change tools. It's annoying, and Ipad users get to have their only moment of being to one-up you, ever. I mean, my drawing tablet having a few buttons on the side is cool and all but there are so many hotkeys to deal with that I still have to reach over every 40 seconds or so just to switch erasers and select the lasso tool. I'm making content for questionable depraved middle aged men on the internet, I don't have time to reach over every few seconds. So I went on a quest to find basically a smaller keyboard or a button pad to not have to goblin-claw every day of my life. I am not joking when I say I have tried almost every product under the sun. I had a circular 1 handed keyboard from Wolf-King but I started having to re-bind keys in my programs which got confusing when I had to switch back to my normal keyboard; plus the keys were in awkward spots. Then I tried a Huion Key-dial that I already reviewed which is nice but it didn't have quite enough buttons and if you pressed more than one at a time they "held" the key down indefinitely which caused more problems. There were some more forgettable ones that never really panned out.------------------------------Alright, so I finally arrived on this product and holy mother of goblin slaying this thing has completely changed my life. Like, in my product picture I literally just move my keyboard aside entirely when I work now.First things first, YOU CANNOT JUST PLUG AND PLAY THIS PRODUCT. When it comes you have to adjust ALL of the fingers and slides to something comfortable or you will hate this product and accidentally hit keys. The only thing you, as an animator sitting alone for 7 hours every day, should be hitting is the gym; so just take the minuscule amount of time making it comfortable to save yourself a headache. This takes about 7 or so minutes. After that, you need to download their software, but the software is what makes this amazing! I even took a picture of the software so you can see what it looks like. The big problem with all the other mini-keyboards or pads I've used were that they were awkward, or limited. This thing feels incredible in my hand but it is essentially a 26-key keyboard that isn't limited at all. With the software you can literally bind every single key, with multiple presses. So, you aren't just hitting "E" or "M" or even a number, you can literally bind any key to something like Shift+ALT+M or F+5. Since it works like an actual keyboard you can also bind keys to Shift and then press whatever else you need and it works the same as an actual keyboard would behave. You can also bind the THUMB STICK to 5 keys, and it feels so nice that I can't go back. I have it bound to "[" and "]" to the left and right for making a brush bigger and smaller, and "." and "," to up and down to select brushes above and below the one I'm using. I haven't found a single other product that does this and it caught me off guard. There's also two thumb sticks, one is more rigid than the other and I use the smaller rigid one the most because I bind it to any key that pans a view in a program I use.So this is already a direct upgrade from any keyboard or pad I've used but like I said it's unlimited. You have two "main" profiles stored to the pad but you can add an infinite amount that you can manually select too. I have one for clip studio, one for Photoshop, one for animating in blender, one for sculpting in blender, a bunch for different games and so on. There was a point where I was just making a new key profile for every new game I played. So in short, I can't go back to gimmick keyboards or keypads because this one is just a behemoth of an upgrade to anything else I've used. I straight up just don't even use my actual keyboard when working anymore.--------------------------------------Speaking of goblin slaying, let's talk about gaming. This thing is terrible for gaming, I hate it. I see a lot of community comments saying they swear by it but lets make something very clear. If you are using this for gaming, it will take weeks of readjustment to unlearn years of normal keyboard gaming muscle memory. No, drinking G-Fuel and putting on your gamer socks is not going to elevate you into an Azeron keyboard god-gamer overnight. There are two reasons why I hate it.1. The biggest core problem is your thumb. If you want to use the thumb-pad then you don't have a way of pressing space bar for jumping that feels natural in any way. You COULD technically let go of the thumb-pad to reach over to the button near it to jump then snap back to the thumb-pad but in a lot of games you will lose momentum and it's not feasible. That means annoying use of thumb flicking and praying fortnite 12 year olds don't dome your head in while you struggle to even jump, OR binding jump to a finger you never use to jump like pulling your pinky towards you which should probably be banned by the Geneva convention.2. This leaves binding keys to WASD and using the smaller rigid thumb-stick for jumping by binding pulling it down to jump. This actually works and feels really nice but that means less keys for your other fingers to use with the bonus of the fact you are completely ignoring the actual thumb-stick and it will feel very lonely and sad. There are games that work for this. I play natural selection 2 sometimes and this feels better than using a normal keyboard, but in a MOBA like Smite where you need WASD + 1,2,3,4 + F+G+ C+ V + Spacebar to jump + a key for opening the menu + the scoreboard + the screen to see how you died and AFTER ALL OF THAT still don't have enough keys to use the VGS command menu.... Well you can see why this layout doesn't work. It's possible to get advanced games working with this kind of setup but you are sacrificing certain actions every time.----------------------------In short, I use it everyday for creative work. For gaming, I rarely use it.Also I got the glow in the dark keys, it's nice to stumble out of bed hungover in the dark and know where my keyboard is.
